Town of Oldenburg in Germany

Hedwig de Levie is in a basket playing with her kitten. This picture was taken between 1929 and 1932. She lived in Oldenburg, Germany. The population in Germany for Jews in a census was 564,973 people. The census taken in 1925, four years before this picture was taken. The after the war life in Germany for Germany Jews were that some people enjoyed arts but they weren’t ready organized under the Jewish community. They also never made trade or professional associations.  This city was in Germany during the Holocaust. Oldenburg was captured by the Canadian 2nd Division on May 3 and stationed there when the Germans surrendered.
